According to the song’s publishing company, over 1,500 different versions of this song have been recorded by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages. Though it was written in 1955, the most  famous version was recorder by The Righteous Brothers. The song went on to become an even bigger hit by being the main song in the 1990 movie blockbuster Ghost starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.
